What this guide is:
Stepmania seems not to be as well known on the internet as I would like. I am making this guide to help spread the word as well as to help the less expierenced get Stepmania set up on their computer, get some songs, and begin making their own steps to songs.
What is Stepmania?
Like GIMP, which I have also written a guide to, Stepmania is a free, open source program, written by a community of programmers in their spare time for the good of the world.
Stepmania is a program that simulates many popular dance/rhythm games including Dance Dance Revolution and Pump It Up. Just think of it as a free PC version of DDR, if that helps any. You can play Stepmania with your keyboard, or if you have a joypad that you can connect to your computer you can use it instead. You can find USB adapters on the internet to allow you to connect a dance mat for an Xbox or Playstation to your computer as a joypad. Also, some home dance pads come with a USB connector along with any video game console connectors.
