Vista’s got nothin’

After a few hours of dedicated work, I’ve got this wonderful new toy working in linux: Beryl. Think of all the graphical effects that Apple’s OS X hosts and combine that with anything you get from Windows Vista on a high end machine plus some features that neither have even dreamed of. Here’s a little sample of what’s possible with this 3D window manager:

Also, the new Death Note opening is unbelievable even if the taste in music is a little iffy.

You’d think it could at least wait until the warranty expired…

My cell phone that I got just about 25 days ago is already completely useless. It turns on and lites up, but that’s about all that it does now. I’ve already been back to one Cingular store and spent time on their website with the live chat support so far and I’ll have to take it back to the store in Knoxville to get anything done about it unless I want to exchange it by mail, and I’m just assuming they don’t ship to P.O. boxes, so that’s out of the question. Sparing any more details at the moment, it won’t be working again until at least this weekend if not longer.
In other news, Naruto just ended after around two years of filler. They just started a second show this week titled “Naruto: Shippuuden” that started off with a double episode that I just watched. Ending the long filler, this one picks up with Naruto coming back from a few years of training ready to go get Sasuke back and it holds up the standard that the early episodes set several years ago, so keep your eye on that one. Deathly Hallows release date announced

Not that I care anything about Harry Potter, but the release date is now official (and not 07.07.07). July 21, 2007 and you can preorder it now just about anywhere.
In other news, Bleach 113 and Death Note 16 are both out and each very excellent.

Blood and Anime

I donated blood today. It went much better than last semester where they were digging around for my blatant and easy to hit vein. More along the usual lines of *poke*, wait a bit, OK done.
In other news, I’m liking my dual monitors while they last. I can write while while watching the latest Death Note, which is already out on mininova, by the way (ep. 15). It’s still gaining intensity as fast as ever, with L’s inevitable death and Light’s oblivious new girlfriend. I’ve never been much interested in chess, but this show is like watching a really drawn out chess game, with one check after another. I call checkmate in 22. (I also call Light giving up his death note for a time too.)

EDIT: Bleach 112 is also out now. Downloading that currently.
