faceYou can consider this my non-traditional resume. Of course, a more traditional (boring) version is available as well.

I have a long history with computers. By the age of 8 I had finished all the DOS Tutor floppies (5 1/4″) I could find and I was looking for something else to do with the computer besides playing Digger. Thirteen years of fun-filled exploration later, I find myself ready to graduate with a degree in Computer Science. My interests are in game design, web design, and user interfaces. With this degree I hope to make computers easier to use .

Education

I first figured out where I was going in the field of computers when I took a PHP/MySQL course as a homeschooler in the 8th grade. The more I figured out about how the web worked, the more excited I was to take part in it, and this still holds true. At Farragut High School (Farragut, TN) I was lucky enough to have an excellent computer science teacher who solidified my interest in the field. I graduated in the Spring of 2006 with a GPA of 3.68. Despite my extracurricular involvement in the JROTC unit, I decided to forgo military service and enter Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville, TN to pursue a Computer Science degree. Here I am, 7 semesters later, graduating with an expected GPA of 3.44, and excited to see what career lies in store for me.

Employment

I have worked as a student intern at ORNL over the summers of 2008 and 2009. The first year, I worked for the Information Technology Group developing an internal web-app as a front end to a database documenting all Linux systems and users on campus. In the process I learned how to develop AJAX applications from scratch and I acquired hands-on experience with corporate class administration and backup systems. During the summer of 2009 I worked with members of the Mechanical Properties Group to improve LabVIEW programs used for data acquisition material stress tests. During my time there I learned much about the processes used in materials testing and was exposed to many various kinds of National Instruments hardware.

I have managed the web server for the Tennessee Tech Honors Department since Spring 2008. Responsibilities include regular updates to custom PHP/MySQL apps, administration of Mailman mailing lists, and 24/7 availability in case of disaster. During my time managing the server I have become comfortable with remotely managing a UNIX server through a terminal interface.
