Well here’s a quick list:
- AJAXy history scrolling. Just click the link to scroll older posts and you’ll see.
- Search as you type: search the archives for a word or phrase to the right. It’s nifty!
- AJAX comments. Leaving a comment just automatically adds in without reloading the page (more nifty!).
- Minor theme changes. I can finally tweak things to my liking outside of wordpress.com
- Rewritten guides. I rebuilt my HTML guide from the ground up and have plans on resuming work on my GIMP guide eventually.
- Space for extensive customization. Who knows what I could do here. The possibilities are even more endless than they are with wordpress.com

Does the page degrade gracefully for those without JavaScript enabled?
Also, that history thing is unnecessary—I love it.
FYI, Movable Type is coming out with an open-source version (4.0), so you might want to keep an eye out for that one.

If I were to move to move the site to Movable Type, why would I want to?

It thinks it’s different from your current blogging software.
I don’t know much about the 4.0 beta, but I do know it’s Open Source and used by a lot of people.
